Wilmar G. Stevenson age 84 of Cavalier, ND died on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church at the Pembina County Historical Site across from the Icelandic State Park, Cavalier, ND. Burial in the Thingvalla Cemetery, Mountain, ND. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Wilmar Gordon was born October 3, 1923, to Oliver and Violet (Goldsmith) Stevenson at rural Crystal, ND where he grew up and attended school. Willie served in the U.S. Army during World War II, after his discharge from the service he worked construction for many years in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Montana. While working on Interstate 94, he met Doris Mae Odermann Christian whom he married on September 3, 1960, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Richardton, ND.
After their marriage, Willie, Doris, and Doris' four children moved to a home west of Cavalier where they welcomed two more children. During Willie's marriage, he became interested in the Catholic faith and early in his marriage converted to Catholicism. Willie loved his faith and found great comfort in it. In April 2001, Willie and Doris moved to Borg Pioneer Memorial Home. Doris died on August 26, 2001. In May 2008, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and moved to Wedgewood Manor.
He is survived by his children, Ronald (Vicki) Christian, Sherman, TX, Trish (Bill) Clemons, Glendale, AZ, Donald Christian, Cavalier, ND, Virginia (Charlie) Chandler, Rapid City, SD, Regina (special friend, Harvey Collins) Stevenson, West Fargo, ND, Henry Stevenson, Seattle, WA, precious grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Christina (Keith) Westfall, Bil (Jana) Clemons, Quincy Clemons (special friend, Ayumi Nagata), Jacob (Jackie) Clemons, Gabriel Clemons, John Chandler, Joe Chandler, Jacob Stevenson, MacKenzie Stevenson, great grandchildren, Kaya Quest Clemons, Jakub Tosh Clemons, and Sophia-Quincy Adaya Clemons, and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, and sisters, Dora Mandera, Sophia Rogers, and Pearl Goodman.

Military Rites: Bjornson-Sigfusson Post #227, Mountain American Legion.
Honorary Pallbearers: All of Willie's Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
