William A. "Bill" Henschel, Sr. 84, of Bathgate, ND died on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, Neche, ND. There will be visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Neche, ND. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Bill was born February 16, 1924, near Hamilton, ND to Julius and Julia (Drager) Henschel. He grew up in the Hallson area. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in Germany. After his discharge from the service he returned to Neche and worked at the Farmers Union Oil Company.
On June 20, 1954, he married Darlene Wolfgram at Neche, ND. They moved to Bathgate where they owned and operated Bill's Bar. He later farmed until his retirement in 2004.
He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church and the Laverne J. Thompson Post #11, Cavalier American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; children, Shirley Kemp, Fargo, ND and Bill Jr. (Ramona) Henschel, Neche, ND; grandchildren, Chris (Marijo ) Kemp, and Sarah (Paul) Johnson, all of Fargo, ND, Jacob Henschel, Manchester, NH, Nicolas (Katie) Henschel, Belleville, IL; siblings, Ruth (Stewart) Tully, Drayton, ND, Lydia Meagher, Manvel, ND, Ed (Hattie) Henschel, Grafton, ND, Karl (Deloris) Henschel, Bathgate, Martha Houston, McClusky, ND.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Rieny, Fred, and Gus; and sister, Annie.
