William R. Carson, 83, of Walhalla, ND, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Walhalla Assembly of God Church, Walhalla. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from noon until the time of services. Burial will be held in the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla.
William R. "Bill" was born to William C. and Henrietta Carson in July of 1931. He attended rural school in Loam Township. In 1951, he was united in marriage to Joyce.
He spent his years farming the family farm, which has been in the Carson family since 1895. Bill also had a gravel truck and has hauled gravel and shale to nearly every road in Cavalier County! In the winter months he drove school bus, until deciding winters in Arizona were even better! Bill and Joyce retired and moved closer to Walhalla in 2000.
Bill loved to have fun snowmobiling, ATV riding, motorcycling, and driving the dune buggy. He had a jeep that he drove through the hills and loved to give rides to whoever was brave enough! He also enjoyed hunting in his coulee.
He was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church in Walhalla.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; children: Terrance (Ann) Carson, Walhalla, ND, Rhonda (Dean) Baker, of Montana, Cheryl (Rodger) Hartz, Cavalier, ND, Carla (Brian) Kiner, Bathgate, ND, Jeffrey (Jana) Carson, Walhalla, ND; grandchildren: Amanda, Tom, Suzanne, Nadine, Angela, Jonathan, Christy, Michael, Kayla, Samantha, Laura, Blake, and Kenzie; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers: Curtis (Betty) Carson of Montana and Kenneth (Nancy) Carson, of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Harry and his wife, Frances; sisters: LaVerne and husband, Harold Bye, and Mildred and husband, Ray Amundson.
