F. (Frederick) Warren Spangelo, age 60, of Cavalier, ND died Friday, May 9, 2014 in the Pembina County Memorial Hospital while fighting pancreatic cancer.
Warren was born June 5, 1953 in Cavalier, ND. to Frederick Wayne and Beverly Ann (Unke) Spangelo. He was raised on the farm near Hensel, and educated in Hensel Public School until Jr. High. He attended Cavalier High School and graduated in 1971. After graduation he worked on the farm with his Dad until entering the US Navy Dec. 2, 1972 - he served out of various ports including San Diego, North Carolina and Okinawa, Japan. Following his Honorable discharge March 17, 1977, he returned to the area and farmed with his brothers. Warren then worked as an electrician at the Par Site and in Grand Forks, ND. He returned to Cavalier where he worked for area farmers and since 2004 in Pembina at Motor Coach Industries until the time of his death. Warren enjoyed computer gaming with his friends from all over the world, gardening and canning the fruits of his garden. The 4th of July was his favorite holiday and he enjoyed creating huge fireworks displays.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Machinists Union at MCI and the Lavern J. Thompson Post #11, Cavalier American Legion.
Survivors include his daughter, Beverly Nicole Spangelo (Kyle Dunn) of Sioux Falls, SD; step - daughter, Klarissa Miller; sisters: Audrey (Larry) Ouhl of Elgin, ND, Faye Dunnigan of Grand Forks, ND and Brenda Spangelo of Cavalier; brothers: Jim (Mel) Spangelo of Fargo, ND, Jeff (Kristi) of Cavalier, ND, Jerry (LeAnn) of Hensel, ND, Robert (Cathy) of Hebron, ND, and Kevin (Amy) of Cedar Rapids, IA; 22 nieces and nephews and 20 great nieces and nephews; step-mother, Pat Schuh of Grand Forks, ND; aunts: Linda (Tom) Osowski of Minto, ND; Shelley (Mike) Sonetz of Missoula, MT and Lois Gray of Mesa, AZ
Preceding him in death were his parents, Wayne and Bev Spangelo , brother-in-law, Chuck Dunnigan and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural St. Thomas, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 13th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial will be held in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
