Walter H. Stegman, 86, of Neche, ND, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, Neche, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 15th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Neche, ND.
Walter H. Stegman was born July 22, 1924, in the Park Center area of Pembina County. He grew up there and farmed with his father until 1950.
On October 23, 1958, he married Margaret M. Banman at Winkler, Manitoba. After their marriage they farmed in the Tyner area until 1999, when they moved to Neche.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; children: Ruth (Lee) Halvorson, Grafton, ND, Loren (Charlotte) Stegman, Minneapolis, MN, and Terry (Sara) Stegman, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Brett Halvorson, Megan Ruth Halvorson and fiancé, Justin Hills, and Wade Halvorson; Joshua, Aaron, Hannah, and Philip Stegman; Jake and Lyla Stegman; brother-in-law, Herb Winzer, Veseleyville, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters: Olga Sanders and Alma Winzer; brother, Wilmer Stegman; sister-in-law, Eileen Stegman and brother-in-law, Phillip Sanders.
Clergy: Rev. Beth Peterson.
Casket Bearers: Curtis Hartje, Terry Kalis, Tim Kalis, Snookie Menke, Curtis Stegman, and Doug Stegman.
