Wally Swanson

Wally Swanson, 84, of Belcourt, ND, formerly of Walhalla, ND, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018, at the Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 2, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held for one hour before the time of the service.

Wally was born October 23, 1934 in Grafton, ND, to Henry and Olive (Walstad) Swanson. He grew up in the Milton area and graduated from Mountain High School. After graduation he enlisted the United States Army, and after his discharge he moved to Walhalla. Wally worked for Mayo Construction and Mettelmann and Timmerman Farms. On November 20, 1956 Wally married Betty Vondal.

He enjoyed spending time with family and visiting with them on the phone. Some other things he enjoyed was crafting, woodworking, gardening, and country music.

Wally is survived by his children: Ruby Swanson and Ole (Janet) Swanson, Panama City, FL; and Violet (Chris) Swanson, St. Michael, MN; grandchildren: Rebecca Elliott, Deric (Chelsey) Goulet, Mindie Swanson, Andrew Swanson, Jennifer Stokes, and Chrissy Stokes; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings: Janice Lee, Marlyce (Allen) Gier, and Alice Johnson (Jim Nelson).

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and son, Gene.
