Wally Nordstrom

Wally Nordstrom, 83, of Cavalier, ND passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral service will be held Friday, September 16, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to service at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation on Thursday, September 15th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Wally was born August 25, 1928, at Joliette, ND to Walter and Gertrude (McDonald) Nordstrom. He grew up in the Joliette area and attended country school near Bowesmont, ND. During the Korean Conflict he served in the U.S. Army. After his discharge from the service he returned to Cavalier and then moved to Detroit, MI. He returned to Cavalier and worked at Jack's Service Station, Nodak Rural Electric, and Erwin Motors until his retirement in 1999. Wally enjoyed gardening, fishing, and raising chickens. He was a very devoted Vikings, Twins, and Cavalier Tornados fan.
On June 3, 1953, he married Dorothy Winkler at Cavalier. She survives as do his children: Kathy Shanku and Jerry (Shirley) Nordstrom all of West Fargo, ND, Dennis (Peggy) Nordstrom, Cavalier; grandchildren: Kera Hagen, Paige Shanku, Serena Hagel, and Seth Nordstrom; great grandchildren: Schad, Alexcia, Savannah, Kaydence, Everett, Haley, and Gina; siblings: Allan (Pat) Nordstrom, Bathgate, ND and Doris Methner, Royal Oak, MI.
Preceding him in death were his parents; grandson, Kristopher Close; brothers: Bob and Harold; and sisters: Beatrice and Frances.
