Wallace Sauer, 88, of Langdon passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Osnabrock Good Samaritan Center of Osnabrock, ND.
Wallace Sauer was born August 25, 1923 to Jacob and Theresa (Kartes) Sauer at their farm near Mt. Carmel, ND. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mt. Carmel. He attended country school after which he farmed with his family until 1950 when he moved to New Brighton, MN where he was an inspector for Federal Cartridge at the Twins City Arsenal. In 1957, he returned to Mt. Carmel to farm. On November 26, 1962 Wallace was united in marriage to Annabelle Myers of Langdon. They resided on her fatherââ¬â¢s homestead near Langdon.
Wallace spent many good times trapping and hunting with his dad. He also liked going fishing and enjoyed dancing. In later years, he became a collector of model tractors and had quite a large collection. His pride and joy, however, was his red 1966 Mustang convertible.
Wallace was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church of Mt. Carmel, St. Alphonsus Church of Langdon, and Knights of Columbus Council 5057. He was also a member of the Cavalier County Wildlife Club, Langdon Eagles Club, and Good Sam Club.
Surviving Wallace are his sons: Brian (Christie) Sauer of Langdon and Alvin Sauer of Langdon; grandchildren: Brittany Marie and Austen Jacob Sauer of Langdon; siblings: Jerome (Ellen) Sauer of New Brighton, MN, Marlene (Thomas) Miller of Langdon, ND, Florene (William) Rowley of Grand Forks, ND, Frank (Nancy) Sauer of Grand Rapids, MN; several nieces and nephews; and the mother of his sons, Annabelle Sauer McGhie. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bernard, infant sister Marie, and sister-in-law Leona Sauer.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 5 to 7:00 with the rosary being said at 6:00 at Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND. Visitation will also be for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Services will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.
