Vivian Baird, 94, of Langdon, ND passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009 at Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND. Vivian Irwin was born to Russell and Bessie (Roney) Irwin on September 28, 1914 at rural Langdon, Vivian grew up in Langdon and was a graduate of Langdon High School. She then went on to attend Grand Forks Business College after which she worked as a legal secretary in the Snowfield & Stewart Law Office in Langdon. During WWII she worked in public relations with the federal government in Washington, D.C. and with the Flying Training Command in Ft. Worth, TX. Vivian was unite din marriage to Earl Baird on May 29, 1943 at Ft. Worth. The couple was then stationed in Germany, Texas, California, and Washington, D.C. After Earl retired from the military they returned to Langdon. In Langdon, Vivian owned and operated McHugh Abstract Co. and also started Quality Printing with her husband.
Vivian is survived by her sons: James (Jean) of Langdon and Greg (Joan Musch) of Portland, OR; granddaughters: Jill Baird of Cavalier, ND, Jackie Baird of Grand Forks, ND and Julie Baird of Langdon; sister Zelpha Stalker-Malo of Langdon; niece Betty Fetzer of Langdon, nephew Bob (Billie) Stalker of CO, niece Kristy (Ken) Forest of Wales, ND; many extended family members and special pets Lexie and Mylie.
VISITATION will be held Thursday, January 29, 2009 from 4-7 at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be held Friday, January 30, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Langdon Presbyterian Church with visitation one hour prior to service time.
