Violet M. Fedje, age 91, of Hoople, ND died on Thursday, November 2, 2006, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Hoople, ND. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from noon until the time of services. Burial in the Hoople Cemetery. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Family prefers memorials be directed to the Hoople Cemetery Association.
Violet Minnie Sommer was born October 28, 1915, at Crystal, ND to Frank Albert and Minnie Emily (Doebler) Sommer. She was the youngest child in the family, after Albert, Ed, Anna, Harold, Art, Elsie, Ella, Corrine, and Rose. Violet grew up in Grand Forks, graduated from Grand Forks Central and attended beauty school, after which she opened a beauty shop in Hoople.
On June 18, 1941, she married Ernest T. Fedje of Hoople in Grand Forks, ND. They made their home in Hoople.
She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary as well as numerous community clubs. She was an accomplished china painter and a charter member of the North Dakota China Painters Guild. Violet was also an active member of the First Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sons, Tim (Cheryl) Fedje, Rochester, MN and Tom Fedje, Bettendorf, IA; daughter-in-law, Carol Fedje, Hoople, ND; grandchildren: Laura, Martha, David, Kathryn, Rachel, Kara, Leif, and Karl; great grandchildren: Isabella, Tyson, Everett, Calvin, and Nina.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Ernie in 1988 and son Winston in 2003.
