Viola "Vi" Vondal

Viola "Vi" Vondal, 93, of Wahalla, ND passed away Friday, September 4, 2015, at the Pembilier Nursing Center in Walhalla. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 7, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 6th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. rosary service and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service at the church. Burial will be held in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Walhalla, ND.
Viola was born October 23, 1921 at Bowbells, ND to Albert and Myrtle (Bormuth) Olson. She grew up in Bowbells, and in 1939 moved to Bathgate, ND to care for her sister. Vi was also a housekeeper for the Ivy Patterson family.
On July 10, 1941, Vi married Adelord A. Vondal at Leroy, ND. After their marriage they lived on the Emil Vondal family farm. They farmed in Fremont Township, and in 1990 moved into Walhalla.
Vi's family was first and foremost in her life. Other things Vi enjoyed were gardening, canning, quilting, crafts, being a farm wife, and selling Fuller Brush products. She was active in the St. Boniface Altar Society, Walhalla Senior Citizens, Quilting Club, American Legion and Pembilier Nursing Center Auxiliary. Vi served as secretary-treasurer of Fremont Township.
She is survived by her children: Roger (Carol), Harvey, ND, Richard (Janet), Walhalla, ND, Joan (Lloyd) Hoffarth, Lakota, ND, Jim (Donna), Cando, ND, Barbara (Loren) Christianson, Langdon, ND, Roxie (Allen) Horsley, Neche, ND, Valerie Gordon, Audubon, MN, Susan (Brian) Danielson and Rodney ( Jackie) all of Walhalla; 36 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; siblings: Darlene (Roy) Jensen, Powers Lake, ND, Robert (Betty) Olson, Kalispell, MT, Lora (Micky) Schultz, Mobridge, SD, Martha McLean, Mission, TX, Lawrence Olson, Fontana, CA.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Adelord on February 21, 2003, and all his siblings; five sisters; three brothers; daughter-in-law, Sharon.
