Vincent Schaan, 89, of Langdon, ND and formerly of Balta, ND passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND.
Vincent was born November 9, 1925 to Mathew and Stephenia (Hoffart) Schaan at Rugby, ND. He attended school in Balta, graduating in 1943. On May 21, 1945, Vincent married Elizabeth Merck in Balta. Vincent ran the grocery store in Balta until retiring. In 1995, Vincent and Elizabeth moved to Langdon, ND to be closer to family.
Vincent loved to play the accordion. He enjoyed fishing, playing softball & baseball with his sons, doing yard work, and singing in the church choir. He was an avid New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan.
Surviving Vincent are his children: Roland of Langdon, Richard (Sandy) of Langdon, Romaine of Fargo, Reynold (Debbie) of Fargo, Charlotte (David) Brandt of Mandan, Randall of Langdon, Robert of Langdon, Vincent of Grafton, Kenneth (ManaRae) of Oakdale, MN; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Irene Schneider. He is preceded in death by wife Elizabeth, daughters Marie & Collette, and siblings: Sr. Carmelita, Sr. Hildagard, Sr. Boniface, Agnes, Pius, John, Nick, Tony, Tom, and Helen.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 5-7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 Rosary and 7:00 Prayer Service at Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday.
