Verneice Covert

Verneice (Harriette) Covert, 83, of Bowman and formerly of Calvin and Hanks Corner, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 at Bowman.

Verneice was born October 22, 1927 at Calvin, ND to Herb and Helen (Duma) Keeling. She grew up and was educated in Calvin, ND. She was united in marriage to Ralph Covert on May 22, 1947, and they made their home in Calvin. Five children were born to this union: R. Fred II, Korry, Ron, Jeanie, and Carolyn.

Harriette at one time owned and operated a grocery store. She sold toys for years and was known as the “toy lady”. She also sold jewelry at one time and was a big crafter. Harriette worked for Pan Am at the ABM Missile site in Nekoma and also worked the night shift at Maple Manor Care Center for many years. She served as assistant Postmaster in Calvin, ND.

Harriette loved her grandkids and especially enjoyed the 4th of July. She loved to go Christmas shopping and was known for wrapping everything Christmas Eve night. She loved crossword puzzles, to travel and enjoyed rummage sales and collecting. Harriette lived at Hanks Corner from 1989 to 2006 and has since made her home with her son in Bowman, ND.

Harriette is survived by her children: R. Fred II (Gina) of Panama City Beach, FL, Ron of Bowman, ND, Jeanie Covert (Rick Plageman) of Halstad, MN, Carolyn Beranek (Larry Harildstad) of Rural Cavalier, ND; five grandsons; eight granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren; sister: Ida Mae Buckingham of Rothsay, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, son Korry and siblings.

VISITATION will begin at 6pm with a 7pm Prayer Service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND on Wednesday, June 15, 2011.

SERVICES will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 2:00pm at the St. Boniface Catholic Church of Walhalla, ND.

INTERMENT will be on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 5:30pm at the Corinthian Cemetery of Calvin, ND.
