Velma Scott

Velma Scott, 89, of Hannah, ND passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Velma Nickerson was born May 30, 1925 to Ralph and Martha (Bateman) Nickerson. She attended country school near Hannah. Velma and Robert Scott were married on October 27, 1941 in Langdon, ND. They lived in the Langdon area on various farms until moving to the Hannah area where they farmed until 1977. The passing of Robert and Velma’s son, David, in 1968 was very hard for them. Robert passed away in August of 1991, but Velma continued to live in Hannah until November of 2014 when she became a resident at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon. She was the oldest citizen of Hannah before her move to Langdon.

Velma loved to embroider. She made a blanket and many dishtowels for her family. She was well-known for her homemade buns and loved to bake and cook. You never left her house without having a meal. Family was Velma’s life. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren with all her heart.

Velma is survived by her children: Jean (Tom) Cleary of Shorewood, IL, Mary (Gary) Haugland of Devils Lake, ND, Elmer (Grace) Scott of Hannah, Linda (Bob) Lill and Bob(Patricia) Scott all of Langdon, Ella (Steve) Bulat of Fargo, ND; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Bonnie (Ray) Schwartz of Great Falls, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, son David, granddaughter Velma Boesl, and siblings: Esther Hodgins, Roy Nickerson, Raymond Nickerson, Betty Sanford, Wendell Nickerson, Verona Brunette, and Joyce Nickerson.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Maple Manor Care Center Chapel in Langdon, ND. Visitation will start two hours before service time at the MMCC Chapel.

Interment- Hannah Cemetery.
