Tyler T. Witzel

December 3, 1962 — May 9, 2015

Tyler Witzel, 52, Langdon, ND passed away peacefully at his beloved farm Saturday, May 9, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Tyler Thomas Witzel was born on December 3, 1962 in Morden, Manitoba to Carole (Spratt) and Thomas Witzel. He graduated from Langdon High School and NDSCS in Wahpeton. He married the love of his life, Gwen Rohde, on July 19, 1986 in Langdon.

Tyler had many loves; love of the farm, love of the lake, but his greatest love was that of his family. His friends and family could count on him to just stop by to visit in his pickup with his dog Doogie and then later Jazz riding shotgun. Tyler loved having company and hosting gatherings with friends and family at home and at their place at Devils Lake. Tyler loved life and lived it to the fullest by skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, traveling with Gwen and seeing the best of the world right to the very end. You could always count on Tyler to bring a bright light to the darkest of times. He is now looking down on us, giving us the “special wave” that we all came to expect as he drove by or demonstrated in family photos.

Tyler is survived by wife Gwen; father Thomas of Langdon; sisters: Julie (Steve) Hoffarth of Grand Forks and Melissa (Chris) Johnson of Grand Forks; in-laws: Charles and Dianne Rohde of Langdon, Gayle (Dale) Ziegler of Fargo, Paul Rohde of El Paso, TX, Peter (Erika) Rohde of Kearney, NE; and nieces and nephews: Amanda (Rodney) Kaufman and Emma, Nicole (Chase) Frize and Landon and Connor, Nick Ziegler and Aubrie Bakke, Jessica Ziegler, Sam and Courtney Rohde, Travis, Zach and Emma Rohde, Noah, Davis and Carolyn Johnson, Ana Paula and Camila Rohde. Tyler also felt very deeply about all his friends and extended family.

Preceding him in death are his mother, Carole, and his grandparents.

A service for Tyler will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at United Methodist Church, 301 15th Ave., Langdon, ND. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the United Methodist Church, Langdon.
