Timothy (Ted) Bernard Eagan, 88, passed away peacefully Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Pembilier Nursing Center in Walhalla, surrounded by his loving family. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton, ND or the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND.

Ted was born to Leo and Kate (Horgan) Eagan on December 27, 1925, at Stephen, MN. When Ted was a young boy the family moved to begin farming east of Leroy, ND. The family relocated to Walhalla in the late 1930’s. In 1943, Ted graduated from the Walhalla Public High School and farmed in the Leroy area all of his life. On February 18, 1947, he married Virginia Morris of Neche and they have been residents of Walhalla since that time.

Farming was Ted's life passion. During his younger years Ted worked for Ralph Ingles farming and in the potato house. He was a substitute mail carrier and also worked as a crop insurance adjuster. Ted was active in many community and church affairs having served as president of the Knights of Columbus, president of the Walhalla volunteer fireman’s association, and president of the Walhalla Golf Course. He also served terms as the Director of the Walhalla Cooperative Oil Company.

Besides farming he was known in the community as a "go to guy". Ted could be found assisting the funeral director, driving truck, transferring vehicles, bartending and he helped to build the original Walla Walla Theater. Known as a community historian he loved to share stories and was truly an inspiration not only to his family but to others in the community. His sense of humor was always engaged.

Ted is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia, Walhalla; children: Janis (Greg) Gustafson, Pelican Lake, MN, Jim (fiancé, Audrey Rasmussen) Eagan, Walhalla, Colleen (Bill) Lykken, Grafton, ND, Tom (Connie) Eagan, Walhalla, and Catherine (Steve) Spicer, Thompson, ND; nieces, Jeffreen Weisman, Scottsdale, AZ, and Michele Holland, Jerusalem, Israel. Ted was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters: Dorothy, Eilleen, and Ramona; and an infant brother, Patrick.
