Tillie Schiestel

November 2, 1916 — February 19, 2006

Tillie Schiestel, 89, of New Rockford and formerly of Wales, ND died February 19, 2006 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Sheperd in New Rockford, ND.

Matilda Schiestel was born November 2, 1916 to Joseph and Katherine (Montag) Brick at Gainsborough, Saskatchewan. When Tillie was six she moved along with her family to Monitou, Manitoba where she attended the Willow Bluff School. Tillie and Lawrence Schiestel were united in marriage on December 31, 1942 at Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. They lived and farmed at Wales, ND until they retired and moved to Langdon, ND in 1969 where Tillie worked at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital for 11 years. They were members of St. Michaels Catholic Church of Wales and later the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon where she was active in the Catholic Daughters of America. Lawrence passed away February 9, 1987 and Tillie became a resident of the Lutheran Home of the Good Sheperd in May of 2000.

Tillie is survived by her children: Lorraine (Ron) Zerr of Crystal, MN, Charles (Barb) Schiestel of Wales, ND, Janet (Jack) Wild of Osnabrock, ND, Lucille (Frank) Mack of New Rockford, ND, John (Toni) Schiestel of Greeley, Colorado and Mary (Carter) Richter of New Rockford, ND, 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Carol Brick of Trehern, MB and Myrtle Brick of Manitou, MB along with several nieces and nephews.

Tillie was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, parents, sisters Nora Nowatzki, Mary Koehmstedt and Helen Brick, brothers; Leo, George, Fred, Pete Edward, and Harry.

VISITATION 2 to 5pm Thursday February 23, 2006 at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon.

Prayer Service 7:00pm Thursday evening at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon.

SERVICES Friday February 24, 2006 at 2:00pm at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon.

INTERMENT St. Michael’s Cemetery Wales, ND
