Tom "Chumley" Mikkelsen, 75, of Langdon, ND, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014, at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Thomas Mark Mikkelsen was born on September 17, 1938, at Mt. Carmel, ND, to Marvin and Bernadine (Kartes) Mikkelsen. He began his schooling in Mt. Carmel and finished in Wales, ND, where he graduated from Wales High School in the class of 1957. Tom and Leota (Domres) were united in marriage on October 3, 1960 and had three children: Dan, Julie and Lisa. They lived on the Mikkelsen farm near Mt. Carmel for the first five years of their marriage before moving to Langdon where they operated the "Club Cafe" and then purchased the "Durum Diner". After selling the diner in 1986, they continued to cater many eventsaround the area. Tom also farmed with brothers Ted and Wayne until poor health prevented him from remaining active on the farm. Tom was active in the Langdon Country Club, the Langdon Eagles Aerie #3454, the Langdon Volunteer Fire Department, and the Langdon Curling Club. He enjoyed golfing, playing pinochle, and bowling. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with people.

Tom is survived by his wife Leota of Langdon; children: Dan (Susan) Mikkelsen of Denver, CO, Julie (Tim) Quick of Chaska, MN, Lisa Mikkelsen (Dave Long) of New York City, NY; grandchildren: Payne, Dawson and Regan Quick of Chaska, MN; siblings: Melford (Norma) of Seattle, WA, Ted of Langdon, Floyd (Betty) of Langdon, Wayne (Audrey) of Langdon, Dennis (Gloria) of Langdon, Merle (Kaye) of Grand Forks, ND, Dale of Wenatchee, WA; sisters-in-law Marjorie Mikkelsen of Langdon and Bette Mikkelsen of Langdon and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, sister Darlene, and brothers Gerald and Ronald.

FRIDAY: A Rosary will be held at 5:00pm at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND. Visitation will take place from 5:30 pm to 7:30pm at the funeral home with a Prayer Service starting at 7:30pm.

SATURDAY: Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon with visitation for one hour before the time of the services at the church.

Interment will be held in the spring at Calvary Cemetery of Langdon, ND.
