Theodore J. "Ted" Dunnigan, 75, of Grand Forks and formerly of Walhalla, ND, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 19, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation on Thursday, March 18th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
Ted was born October 2, 1934, at Walhalla, ND to Charles and Mary (Darling) Dunnigan. He attended high school in Walhalla.
On November 9, 1957, he married Eileen Diemert in Minneapolis, MN. Ted worked in Walhalla most of his life including several years for the ND State Highway Department. He managed the Walhalla Grain Company and later the Walhalla Bean Company until his retirement.
Ted was involved in many ways with the Walhalla community over the years including president of the catholic school board and wildlife club, also serving on the parish council. He was known for his baked beans and making them for anyone who asked up until his health started to fail.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; daughters, Brenda (Dean) Tesmer, DeForest, WI, Dori Dunnigan and Tracy Bjarnason, both of Grand Forks, ND, and Darcy (John) Bjorgo, Crookston, MN; grandchildren, Cassie and James Tesmer, Justin(Carol) Bjarnason, and Stephanie and Matthew Bjorgo, great granddaughters, Prudence Moe and Olivia Bjarnason; sisters, Bonnie Farrell, Larimore, ND and JoAnn Opdahl, Grand Forks, special family friend, Kris Wymenga in British Columbia.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Maurice, Joe, and Jack, and sisters, Agnes Meece and Ruth Meece.
Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Thomas Krupich.
Honorary Pallbearers: All of Ted's Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews.
Casket Bearers: Manley Bennett, Harvey Clark, Dean Jackson, Brian Mathison, Sheldon Romfo, and Paul Soeby.
Music: LaRae Horgan, soloist and Sharon Carpenter, Organist.
