Stewart Howatt, 82, of Langdon, ND, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at his home.
Stewart Lee Howatt was born March 22, 1931, at his family home near Maida, to Orlo and Thelma (Witzel) Howatt. He was raised and educated in the Maida area. Stewart was united in marriage to Betty Martineau in Langdon on September 12, 1953. They just celebrated 60 years of marriage. They farmed the family farm near Maida and at one time raised livestock. Stewart was an avid hunter and loved fishing, but his farming always came first. Stewart had beloved hobby of gathering and growing Lady Slippers flowers.
Stewart is survived by his wife Betty of Langdon; his children: Terry (Carla) Howatt of Langdon, ND, Lynn Howatt of Idaho, Brian Howatt of Washington, Denise (David) Slawson of Virginia, Robin Younggren of Washington; grandchildren: Katrina, Micah, Joshua, Chelsey, Whitney, Dakota, Jacqueline, Scottie, Zach; great-grandchildren: Treycen and Dillon; siblings: Shirley Greene of Fargo, ND, Marjorie Sturlaugson of Fargo, ND, Fay Lorenz of Fargo, ND, Mary (Tony) Sperling of Nevada, Gertie (Lorne) Field of Langdon, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Maurice, Lyle, Floyd, Zilpha Murie, Neil, Russell, and Wayne.
MEMORIAL SERVICES will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Evangelical Church of Langdon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice or Cavalier County Memorial Hospital.
