Stanley W. Wimpfheimer, 100, of Cavalier, ND, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery, Cavalier, ND.
Stanley was born February 25, 1911, in Pembina, ND to Karl and Katherine (Rippel) Wimpfheimer. He attended school in Cavalier. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in a medical battalion in the Midwest. After his discharge from the service, he moved to Minneapolis where he worked for Thermo King Corporation. In the early 1980's he retired and returned to Cavalier and made his home on the family farm. During his retirement he was a frequent visitor to both his nephew Duane Luithie in California, and his childhood friend, David Grafenstein in Montana.
Surviving Stanley were his sisters: Virginia Wimpfheimer, Cavalier, ND; Frances Brady, Falcon MO and her children Robin and Robert, as well as seven additional nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters: Sadie Wimpfheimer, Gladys Bailles, Edna Reopelle, and Irene Willard; brothers: Clarence, Charlie, Harold, and Ben Wimpfheimer.
