Solveig Hornung

Solveig Hornung, 81, of Walhalla, ND passed away peacefully and quietly on Monday, September 24, 2013, at her daughter's home in Lexington, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 3, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service at the church. Interment will be held in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Walhalla. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla.
Solveig was born May 12, 1932 in Svold, ND to John G. Olson and Gudrun (Runa) S. Dalsted Olson. She spent her childhood in Svold, Park River, and finally Walhalla, ND where she graduated from high school in 1950. On September 10, 1951, she married Albert E. Hornung, Jr. and lived the farming life in Walhalla, ND and later in Indio, CA. She retired fully to Walhalla in 2000. She was a devout Catholic and participated in the St. Boniface Lady's Altar Society. Her love of the medical field, led her to become an Emergency Medical Technician in the mid 1970s. Traveling and spending time with her family, were things she loved.
Survivors include her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; son David (Tina) of Ovilla, TX and his children; Morgan of College Station, TX, David II, Preston, and Grant, all of Ovilla, TX; son Steven (Bianca) and their children, Stephanie (Brian) Anderson (their child, Shealyn) and Albert, all of Walhalla, ND; son Scott (Jeannie) of Walhalla, ND and their child, Amanda (James) Gross (their child Maddyn) of Fargo, ND; daughter Jan (Ty) Thompson and their child, Alexandra of Lexington, KY; and son Mark's children, Emily (Jacob) (their children, Hailey and Jacob McGraw) of Moreno Valley, CA and Chelsey of Whittier, CA. She is also survived by sister, Thelma Desautel, of Lakewood, CA; and sisters-in-law, Elda (James) Corbit of Grand Forks, ND, Helen Olson of Cypress,CA, and Elaine Olson of Bellflower, CA.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Albert; son, Mark; parents, John G. And Gudrun Olson; brothers: Barney, Walter, John, Freeman, and Lawrence; sisters: Mabel Wellen, Margaret Frovarp, Anna Larson, Gudrun (Runa) Myers, Olivia Larson, Pauline Grams, and Ethel Eastin; and several nieces and nephews.
