Selmer (Sam) Christianson, 80, of Langdon, ND and formerly of Hampden, ND passed away Tuesday May 12, 2009 surrounded by his family at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.
Selmer was born May 28, 1928 at Hampden to Ole and Marie Christianson. He was raised and educated at the east country school. Selmer began his career working for Fritz Lunde and Lunde Implement in Hampden. On March 15, 1958 he married the love of his life, Janice Thorson. Once he moved to Langdon he worked at various implements as a mechanic. Selmer went on to own his own business along with his son David, Christianson Sales and Service, in Langdon, ND. He worked as an Ag Mechanic for 61 years.
Selmerââ¬â¢s family was filled with many talented musicians. As a young boy he would sing with his family and entertain for friends and neighbors. Selmer loved to play his fiddle for all of his family and friends. He was a very gifted and talented musician, winning talent contests in Hampden with his sister. In addition to music, Selmerââ¬â¢s family was very important to him. He loved to spend time with his family and was proud of all of their accomplishments.
Selmer is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janice of Langdon, children: Kathy (Jim) Simrell of Eldorado Springs, MO, Rick (Char) Christianson of Glenfield, ND, David (Michele) Christianson of Langdon, Deanna (Jack) Scheidt of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren: DaNae (Kenny), Brandon, Janna, Samantha, Chad, Jennifer, Bryan, Katie, Karie, Amber, Aaron, Jason, and Brittany; great-grandsons Luke, Kolten, and Parker; sister-in-law Betty Christianson of Langdon, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Selmer was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Janene, brothers: Melvin, Odin, Clifford, Clarence and sisters Olga and Jennie.
VISITATION will began at 5pm on Friday May 15, 2009 at the United Lutheran Church in Langdon.
PRAYER SERVICE will be on Friday May 15, 2009 at 7:30 at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon, ND
SERVICES will take place on Saturday May 16, 2009 at 2:00pm at the Zoar Free Lutheran church of Hampden, ND.
INTERMENT will be at Storlie Cemetery of Rural Hampden, ND.
