Sadie Grindeland

Sadie Grindeland, 97, of Osnabrock, ND passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the Osnabrock Community Living Center.

Sadie (Nelson) Grindeland was born March 25, 1918, at the farmstead in Osford Township to Sten and Marie (Akset) Nelson. She attended Osford Township Grade School, Milton High School, and then went on to earn her teaching degree at Mayville State College. She taught school in the Osnabrock area until she met and married Palmer Grindeland at Mayville, ND in September of 1940.

Sadie and Palmer opened their home to Palmer’s many nieces and nephews and provided this family with a very loving and caring environment. They lived and farmed near Mayville until Palmer passed away in November of 1975. Sadie moved into an apartment in Mayville after Palmer’s passing and lived there until 2008. She resided at the former Good Samaritan (Osnabrock), Borg Memorial Home in Mountain, and had currently resided at the Osnabrock Community Living Center until her passing.

She is survived by her sister, Doris Rourke, of Osnabrock and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer; brother Arnold; sister Maxine Aune; sister-in-law Doris Nelson; and brothers-in-law Mortimer Aune and Les Rourke.

A memorial service will be held at the Osnabrock Community Living Center on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jessica Merchant officiating.
