Ruth Paulson Kippen age 91, of Fargo, ND and formerly of Cavalier, ND died on Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at her home in Fargo. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cavalier Presbyterian Church, Cavalier, ND. Burial in the Hamilton Cemetery. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Ruth Paulson was born October 8, 1915, on the family farm south of Concrete, ND. She graduated from Cavalier High School in 1931, at the age of 15. She attended college at Montana College, Havre, MT and Mayville State Teachers College graduating in 1933, with a teaching degree. After graduation she taught school in Fort Yates and Hamilton, ND.
In 1935, she married Robert E. Kippen of Hamilton, ND. They lived on the farm near Hamilton, until moving to Cavalier in 1952.
She was very active in community affairs. At various times during her life she was a member of the Hamilton Ladies Civic Club, Progressive Homemakers, County March of Dimes, Secretary of District 11 Republican Women, Pembina County Pioneer Daughters. Ruth was a charter member of the Heritage Society of Pembina County. While a member of the Presbyterian churches in Hamilton and Cavalier, she taught Sunday school and Bible school, and directed the senior choir at the Cavalier church for 25 years. Other memberships included Order of Eastern Star, Cavalier Country Club Women, M.I.S., Cavalier Community Theatre, and a life member of the Pembina County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Ruth was also an active bridge player.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Marlys) Kippen, Hamilton; Terence (Jeanne) Kippen, Wheat Ridge, CO; and Marla (Kenneth) Wagenman, Fargo; grandchildren, Robert (Tanya) Kippen, Jon Kippen, Mary Kippen, Scott (Sheryl) Kippen, James (Stacey) Kippen, Lynell Wagenman, and Jon Wagenman; great grandchildren, Duncan and Aidan Kippen; sister, Marian Hamilton, Scottsdale, AZ and brother, Beverly Paulson, Concrete, ND.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (1985); parents, Joseph Paulson (1931) and Cathrine Paulson Frazier (1955); brothers, Joseph, Clemens, Lynn, John and Eugene; daughters, Joan Marie (1952) and Janet Lyn Alexander (1981).
Clergy: Rev. John Werth.
Casket Bearers: All of Ruth's Grandchilden.
Music: Lynell Wagenman, Soloist, Cavalier Presbyterian Women's Ensemble, Trombone and Bass Duet by Ken and Jon Wagenman, Cleone Whelan, Organist.
