Ruth M. Hollis

Ruth M. Hollis age 83 of Cavalier, ND died on Friday, January 5, 2007, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cavalier Baptist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Cavalier Baptist Church. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Cavalier Baptist Church or the Ruth Hollis Health Care Scholarship Fund in care of the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier.
Ruth Mary Roberta McElhany was born October 19, 1923, at Watertown, SD to Harry and Elsie (Briggs) McElhany. In 1945, she graduated from Peabody Hospital School on Nursing. She lived in Florence, Webster, Watertown, Canova, and Madison, SD.
On December 26, 1946 she married Colin P. Hollis. In 1958, she moved to Cavalier where she worked as an O.R. nurse, director of nursing, and later administrator of the Pembina County Memorial Hospital. Later she served as administrator the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier. She was active in the Pembina County Memorial Hospital Board and Auxiliary and in Cavalier Baptist Church activities.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Mark) Berman, West Hills, CA; Michael (Pamela) Hollis, Green Cove Springs, FL; John (Ruth A.) Hollis, Grand Forks, ND; and Kathleen (Alden) Brooks, Hamilton, ND; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Leslie, Samuel, Harry Jr, Paul, and Donald; and sisters, Elsie Lloyd and Dorothy Stough.
Clergy: Pastor Matt Anderson.
Casket Bearers: Travis Brooks, Cory DeLap, Rob Friedman, Jason Hollis, Chad Restemayer, and Jason Restemayer.
Honorary Pallbearers: Gordon Lloyd, Dale McElhany, Dave McElhany, Delwin McElhany, Jim McElhany, and Paul McElhany, Jr.
