Ruth E. Hill

Ruth Esther Hill, 87, formerly of Mountain, ND, left us on January 4, 2016, at the Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta, ND.
Ruth was born July 6, 1928 in Calvin, ND to Harvey and Salome (Kortmann) Senecal, youngest of three. Her father was a Presbyterian pastor in North Dakota and Minnesota. Her mother was a homemaker.
Ruth graduated from Ellendale High School in 1948, where she met and married Gerald K. Hill. She attended college at Jamestown College. After graduation, they returned to Kentucky where Gerald attended Drew Seminary. Ruth was a homemaker while her husband was a pastor in the Dakotas. In 1969, Ruth went to the University of Minnesota and received her Master's in Social Work. She worked at Children's Village in Fargo, ND. In 1983, they moved to Walnut Creek, CA where Gerald had his own practice. She worked at Shell Oil in California.
Ruth's interests were backpacking, cooking and family history. She devoted much of her time and energy when she moved back to the Dakotas on typing out her dad's diaries.
She is survived by her daughter, Nita Star; sons, Gerald Hill and Thomas Hill; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister, brother, and daughter.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND.
