Ruth Doebler

Ruth U. Doebler, 87, of Cavalier, ND passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Cavalier ND. Visitation will be held Monday, September 3, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial will be held in the Cavalier Cemetery.

Ruth was born May 21, 1931 at Cavalier ND, the daughter of Norman and Josephine (Staldt) Restemayer. She attended country school and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1949.

On October 23, 1949, Ruth married Adolph Doebler, and together farmed their family farms until Adolph’s death in 1981. She also worked part time in the Cavalier Public School kitchen for over 39 years.

She loved going to the county fair from the time she was three years old and was there every year including this past year. Ruth was a 4-H Leader, member of the Cavalier Arts and Crafts Society, Homemakers Club, Pembina County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the ladies church group at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She loved taking care of her grandchildren, playing cards, and playing bingo.

She is survived by her daughters: Colleen (Guy) Daby and Marlys (Gordy) Bjerkness, all of Cavalier; grandchildren: Deanna (Kurt) Kainz, Susan (Jeremy) Burchill, Charles (Ashley) Daby; step-grandchildren: Brian Bjerkness, Michelle (Tate) Burns, Stephanie (Matt) Overgaard; great-grandchilden: Jazmynne Leeson, Morgan Burchill, Kannon and Laynie Kainz, Isabella, Braxton, and Emma Overgaard, Mariah and Trey Burns. Alsosurvived by her sister, Elsie Johnson.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Adolph; parents; sister, Phyllis Thomson; granddaughter, Evie Ruth Bjerkness.
