Rudolph L. "Rudy" Lembke, 83, of Cavalier and formerly of Neche, ND. passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier ND with visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Visitation on Wednesday, April 13th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier. Burial in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Neche. Military Rites by the Gainer-McAndrews Post #242, Neche American Legion.
Rudolph L. Lembke was born to William and Ottilga (Stegman) Lembke on April 5, 1928 in Neche, ND. He grew up and attended school in the Neche area, graduating from Neche High School. Rudy attended NDSU for one year prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea. After his discharge, he moved to Neche where he farmed with his father. In 1956, he moved to Wisconsin and married Dorothy Johnston on November 26, 1956. In 1958, they returned to Neche where he farmed until his retirement in 1989. After his retirement he worked for area farmers and enjoyed traveling to see his grandchildren. Some of his hobbies included fishing, hunting, and playing cards with the Wednesday night crew.
Survivors include his children: Thomas Lembke, Neche; Pamela (Steven) Kissner, Henry, IL; Dwight (Cynthia) Lembke, Harwood, ND; Sheri (Craig) Steiger, Cavalier, ND; grandchildren: Daniel Grainger, Christine Lembke, Paul Kissner, Blaine and Ivy Steiger; sisters: Evelyn Petsinger, Jefferson City, MO; Helen (Earl) Jackson, Fargo, ND; brothers-in-law: Jake Reimer, Mountain, ND; Phil Panasuk, Minot, ND.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Dorothy on April 3, 2001; sisters: Magdeline Reimer and Dorothy Panasuk.
