Ruby Vistad

Ruby L. Vistad, 83, of Cavalier, North Dakota died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Monday, January 3, 2010 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Cavalier with burial in the Cavalier Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service and one hour prior to services in the church.
Ruby L. Krak was born April 15, 1927 in Cavalier, North Dakota the daughter of Rueben and Irene (Schluchter) Krak. She was raised on a farm near Hamilton graduated from Hamilton High School in 1945. She then attended Mayville State Teachers College and then taught country school at the Ruby School near Hamilton. On February 15, 1947 she was united in marriage to Robert G. Vistad in Cavalier. They made their home in Hamilton until moving to a farm southeast of Hamilton where they farmed for many years. In 1975 they moved into Cavalier and Mr. Vistad died in May of 1982. She continued to make her home in Cavalier until 2004 when she moved to Parkwood Place in Grand Forks. In October of 2009 she began residing at Valley Eldercare.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a former member of the Hamilton Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and the Republican Woman.
Ruby enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with her family.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Deborah (Mark) Morrison of Bathgate, North Dakota and Vanessa (Kurt) Gunning of West Fargo, North Dakota; sons, James (Cheryl) Vistad of Grafton, North Dakota, David (Judy) Vistad of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Michael Vistad of Cavalier, North Dakota and Stanley (Marsha) Vistad of Grand Forks, North Dakota; fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Keena of Hillsboro, North Dakota and Jean (Bob) Smillie of Fargo, North Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, grandchildren, Adam James Vistad and Allison Leigh Vistad, daughter-in-law, Diane Vistad and sister, Mildren Apuli.
