Ross Brown, 87, of Bathgate, ND, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier, ND. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Bathgate Presbyterian Church, Bathgate, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, March 13th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier. Burial will be held in the Bathgate Cemetery.
Ross was born May 26, 1927 in Bathgate to William and Kate Brown. He graduated from Bathgate Public School in 1945. In 1953, he married Edna Seblen at Bathgate where they lived and raised their family.
He started farming at an early age and his love for farming continued until his last days. In addition to farming, Ross and his business partner, Keith Olson, operated a cattle feed lot, sold anhydrous ammonia and raised and sold wheat seed.
Ross was on the board of North Valley Water Association for 38 years. He was on the grower's board of the Red River Valley Sugar Beet Growers Association, a member and elder of the Bathgate Presbyterian Church and a past master of the Masonic Lodge. He also served on the board of the Bathgate Pioneer Rest Home.
His family was very important to him, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He took great pride in watching them participate in church, school and sporting events. He and Edna loved to travel together and went on many trips. Ross also took daily crop tours for as long as he could drive his pickup.
Survivors include his three sons: Rick (Clarinda) Brown, Kelly (Toni) Brown, Kevin (Beth) Brown, all of Bathgate, and one daughter, Kay (Dale) Hartz of Maple Valley, Wa; ten grandchildren: Melissa (Troy) Feeken, Michael (Kelly) Brown; Travis (McKenzie) Brown, Reece and Levi Brown; Garret, Taylor and Ethan Brown; Eric Hartz and Rachael (Matthew) Wood; two great grandchildren: Kasyn and Myleigh Brown and one sister, Mary Margaret Lively of Maryland.
Preceding him in death were his parents and loving wife of 56 years, Edna.
