Roland Smith

Roland B. Smith, 63, of Hamilton, ND passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural St. Thomas, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 11th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
Roland B. Smith was born September 13, 1948, at Grafton, ND to Stanley and Violet (Klindt) Smith. He grew up on a farm south of Walhalla, ND and graduated from Walhalla High School. In 1975, he moved to Grafton. He worked for Motor Coach Industries in Pembina for 32 years.
On January 11, 1977, he married Betty Slaamod at Crookston, MN. In 1980, they moved to Pembina and in 1997 to Hamilton. Roland collected music and wolves. He also enjoyed woodworking and spending time with this granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; children: Robert Smith, Hamilton, ND and Christina Halvarson, Moorhead, MN; granddaughter, Alexa Halvarson; and sisters: Gail (Don) Dalzell, Walhalla and Janet (Matt) Werven, Backoo, ND.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Merton.
