Rodney D. Grube, 59, of Cavalier, ND passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011, at his home. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Wedneday, June 22nd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church.
Rodney David Grube was born April 2, 1952, at Altona, Manitoba, Canada to Albert and Jeanette (Turner) Grube. He graduated from Cavalier High School in 1970. From 1971 until 1973, he served in the U.S. Army doing one tour of duty in Vietnam. After his discharge from the service he farmed in Pembina County, worked at Motor Coach Industries, ADM Ethanol Plant, and for Mayo and Close Construction.
Prior to his marriage to Jennifer Doan on March 27, 2009 in Winnipeg, he was married to Kaye (Holth) Furstenau.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer; children: Desiree (Jesse) Hopkins, Brainerd, MN and Devon (Margie) Grube, Virginia Beach, VA; stepchildren: Constance Holth, Sartell, MN, Chad (Irene) Holth, Oviedo, FL, Charles Granger and Nadine Granger (Jason Barnabe), all of Winnipeg, Manitoba; grandchildren: Sydnee and Skyler Holth, Connor and Reagan Holth, Henry, Sebastian, and Caroline Hopkins, Wyatt Grube, Bailey Love, and Jameson Barnabe; brothers: Robert (Margaret) Grube, Walhalla, ND and Ronald Grube, Cavalier; stepfather, Earl Papenfuss, Cavalier, and stepsisters: Wendy (Rod) Miller and Connie Darley; and several extended family.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Clergy: Intern Pastor Roberta Pierce.
Honorary Pallbearers: Dean Anderson, Tony Clark, Mike Gregory, Marcus Hamann, Floyd Helgoe, Brandon Lage, Leo Lage, and Dennis McFadden.
Military Rites: Lavern J. Thompson Post #11, Cavalier American Legion.
Music: Doug Finney, Soloist and Christine Hughes, Organist.
