Rodney D. Byron

Rodney D. Byron, 82, of Mountain, ND passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral service will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Vikur Lutheran Church, Mountain, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 5th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. prayer service at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial will be held in the Mountain Cemetery.
Rodney Dale Byron was born February 13, 1935 at Mountain, ND to Louis and Myrtle (Johannesson) Byron. He grew up in the Mountain area, worked on the family farm, and graduated from Mountain High School.
On August 17, 1957, he married Marlyss Benjaminson at Mountain. He owned and operated a gas station and repair shop in Mountain. Rodney then worked at the ABM site in Nekoma and the PAR site at Cavalier until his retirement.
He was a very active member of the Bjornson-Sigfusson Post #227, Mountain, ND. While a member he served as past commander and several other positions. Rodney was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. Besides his love of volunteering for the Legion, he also was busy with his Viking Ship Float, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his children: Bradley (Barbara) Byron, Minneapolis, MN, Brenda Tesmer (Jerome Wilhowsky), Mountain, ND, Bridgett (Jon) Fast, Warroad, MN; grandchildren: Amanda (Brian) LaPorte, Rebbeca Tesmer (Ross Myhre) Jason (Selena) Tesmer, Rocky Tesmer (Rita Satterwhite), Benjamin (Amy) Tesmer, Brittany (Trevin) Cervenka, Brady Byron; seven great-grandchildren; siblings: Eugene (Meredeth) Byron and Phyllis (Roger) Aarseth.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Marlyss; granddaughter, Stephanie Nash, and brother, Duane Byron.
