Rod D. Sigvaldson, 61, of Cavalier, ND passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, December 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:45 p.m. rosary service and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service at the church.
Rod was born September 16, 1952, at Devils Lake, ND to Charles and Delores (Anderson) Sigvaldson. He grew up in the Edmore, ND area, and graduated from Edmore High School. After attending Lake Region Junior College and the University of North Dakota, he returned to Edmore to farm with his father.
On July 7, 1978, he married Karen Myrum at Devils Lake, ND. Rod then attended paramedic training at the United Hospital in Grand Forks, and moved to Cavalier where he managed the Cavalier Ambulance Service. They then moved to Atlanta, GA, where Rod graduated from Emory University as a Physician's Assistant. As a Physician's Assistant he worked at the Cavalier Clinic, Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, Heart of America Medical Center, Rugby, ND, and the Unity Hospital, Grafton, ND. He enjoyed antique car restoration and cooking.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; stepson, Gene (Jill) Rolwes, IA; grandsons: Daniel and Erik Rolwes; siblings: Viola Sigvaldson and Charles W. (Karen) Sigvaldson, all of Edmore, ND, Dennis (Sue) Sigvaldson, Brooklyn Park, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Charlotte Landsem.
