Robert C. Snell, age 62, of Neche, and formerly of Cavalier,ND died on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m wake service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Following the wake service and funeral mass everyone is invited to the Cavalier Senior Center for a time of fellowship and lunch. Burial in the St. Brigid of Ireland Cemetery, Cavalier, ND.
Robert C. Snell was born September 13, 1944 at Langdon, ND to Charles and Mildred (Nowatzki) Snell. He grew up and attended school in Cavalier, graduating from high school in 1962. He worked as a North Dakota Highway Patrol Officer for 30 years, serving in New Salem, Devils Lake, Beach, and Grand Forks. For 31 years he also served with the North Dakota National Guard. He worked for Motor Coach Industries, New Flyer, and Cirrus before becoming a Customs and Border Protection Officer in Pembina for the past four years.
In 1967, he married Patricia Kay Mondor and they had two sons, Scott (Patricia) Snell, Bemidji, MN and Chad (Becky) Snell, Minot, ND. His six grandchildren are Kayla, Nathan, Nicholas, Logen, Alex, and Elisha. He then married Elizabeth Plemmel-Schafer and they had one daughter, Katherine Margaret Snell, now residing in Germany.
Other survivors include his mother, Mildred Snell, Cavalier, ND; siblings, Barbara (Donald) Wenlund, Clackamas, OR; Arthur Snell, Cavalier, ND; Rita (Lawrence) Jerome, Garrison, ND; Fr. Roger Snell, Edgeley, ND; Gerald "Joe" (Joyce) Snell, Grand Forks, ND; Sandra (Bert) Johnson, Walhalla, ND; and Pat (Dorothy) Snell, Neche, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, and infant brother, John.
Bob was grateful for his many wonderful friends in AA in the Grand Forks community. His favorite saying was "Life is simple, we make it complicated."
