Robert W. Meece

Robert W. Meece, age 93, of Garrison, ND and formerly of Walhalla, ND, died March 27, 2009 at Garrison Memorial Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday April 1, 2009, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND, with the Rev. Thomas Krupich officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 31th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services.
Robert (Bob) Meece was born November 27, 1915 at Rantoul, IL to William and Alta (Thomas) Meece. At the age of 16 months he moved with his family to North Dakota, living in the South Walhalla/Concrete area and later in Walhalla. He graduated from Cavalier High School in 1934. He was a farmer and operated Bob Meece Radio & TV for many years in Walhalla. He was an avid Ham Radio operator for most of his life.
On September 12, 1941 he married Ruth Dunnigan. Ruth died in 1999 and in 2005 Robert moved to live with his daughter.
Robert was a Walhalla City Councilman for many years. He had many skills and talents which he readily shared and was always there for anyone in need.
Survivors include his children: Barbara (Steven) Gazdik, Underwood, ND, Bonnie (Glen) Nygard, Garrison, ND and Robert William (Bill) of Moorhead, MN, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Stacy. Burial in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Walhalla.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. Boniface Church or the Senior Citizen's Center, Walhalla, or Mass intentions.
