Robert D. Kippen

Robert D. Kippen, 76, of Cavalier, ND passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. A memorial service will be held Monday, November26, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cavalier Presbyterian Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Robert D. Kippen was born April 29, 1936, at Grafton, ND to Robert E. and Ruth F. (Paulson) Kippen. He grew up in the Hamilton area where he attended country school and later graduated from Cavalier High School. Bob graduated from North Dakota State University with a Master's Degree in Agricultural Economics. While at N.D.S.U. he was a member of the AGR fraternity. He returned to the Hamilton area where he farmed with his dad and continued to farm until his retirement in 2001. Bob was also an agent for Pembina County Mutual Insurance and owned and operated the grain elevator in Hamilton.
He was a member of the Tongue River Masonic Lodge, Kem Temple Shrine, and the Hamilton Men's Civic Club.
On March 12, 1966, he married Marlys Kapp at the Cavalier Presbyterian Church. She survives as do his children: Robert A. (Stacy) Kippen, Fargo, ND, Jon A. Kippen, Burlington, ND, and Mary C. Kippen, Hoople, ND; grandchildren: Austin and Caitlyn Skari, Duncan Kippen, Landon Lemieux; great grandson, Chase Skari; and his siblings: Terry (Jeanne) Kippen, Denver, CO and Marla (Ken) Wagenman, Fargo.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters: Joan Kippen and Janet Alexander.
