Richard "Butch" Milner, 80 of Cavalier, ND. died Monday, September 1, 2008, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 5, 20008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 4th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier. Visitation at the funeral home for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Andvari Cemetery, rural Cavalier, ND.
Richard D. Milner was born December 29, 1927, at Leroy, Iowa to Claude Dewey and Grace Milner. He grew up in the Leroy, IA area. Butch served in the U.S. Army during World War II. For many years he drove truck for Murphy Motor Freight out of Sioux Falls, SD and later was a heavy equipment operator in the St. Peter, MN area and later at the Cavalier Air Force Station.
On July 30, 1978, he married Dorothy Roahrig Byron at Walhalla, ND.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Cathy (Mike) Mallery, Osage, WI, Rick Milner, Sioux Falls, SD, Sandy (Brian) Fueling, Hudson, WI, Rita Millen, Gaffney, SC; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Bob (Darlene) Milnar, St. Paul, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and brother, Claude, Jr.
Military Rites by the Bjornson-Sigfusson Post #224, Mountain American Legion.
Clergy: Rev. Beth Peterson.
Casket Bearers: Terry Busse, John Forbes, Ben Hannesson, Randy Milner, Richard McKnight, and Scott Winkler.
