Richard 'Dick' Houston

Richard "Dick" Houston, Sr., age 86 of Bathgate, ND, died on Friday, July 1, 2005 at his residence in Bathgate.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at the Bathgate Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Bathgate Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Bathgate Presbyterian Church and also for one hour prior to service time on Tuesday.

Vernon Richard "Dick" Houston, Sr., the son of Alfred and Florence (Gibney) Houston, was born on February 12, 1919 at Bathgate, North Dakota. He attended country school near his childhood home and then went to work as a carpenter and a farmer.
He was united in marriage to Marguerite Gladue on October 11, 1946 in Cavalier, North Dakota, and to this union were born two sons.
Dick was a lifelong resident of Bathgate, and a member of the Bathgate Presbyterian Church. He had served on the Bathgate City Council and stayed active in his community. Dick enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing, and trapping.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons: Rick (Mary Ann) Houston of Bathgate, ND, Leslie (Delores) Houston of Bathgate, ND; his grandchildren: Dan (Summerly), Jim, Rick, Stefanie and Steven; his great-grandchildren: Madison and Mackenzy; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marguerite in 1978; one brother Russell; and one sister Annabelle in infancy.
