Reinhold R. "Reiny" Winkler, age 70, of Cavalier, ND died on Friday, March 16, 2007, at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of funeral services. Burial in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Neche, ND.
Reinhold Raymond Winkler was born January 30, 1937, at Cavalier, ND to William and Hedwig (Stark) Winkler. He grew up and attended school at Cavalier. From 1955 to 1959, he served in the U.S. Air Force.
On February 2, 1957, he married Yvonne Smith at Ellington Air Force Base in Texas. After his discharge from the service they moved to Cavalier. Reiny worked as manager of the Robertson Lumber Yards in Edinburg and Cavalier, and as a draftsman for Cavalier Lumber and the Gregory Building Center. He was a member of the Westerners Band that performed in the area for many years. Reiny also enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; children, Margaret Faye Winkler (Norm Ragan), Abington, VA; Lorri (Curtis) Sapa and Rebecca (Jim) Jeffords, all of Cavalier; Lisa (Wayne) Wells, Pembina, ND; grandchildren, Philip Sapa, Joshua Sapa, Ryan Wells, Lindsey Wells, Michael Wells; great grandchildren, Calaeb Sapa and Ian Wells; silblings, Carl (Roseann) Winkler, Leonard (Carolyn) Winkler, and Dorothy (Wallace) Nordstrom, all of Cavalier, ND.
Reiny was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Nordstorm; and five infant siblings.
Clergy: Rev. Doug Heskin.
Casket Bearers: David Kearns, Donnie Kearns, Jerry Nordstrom, Robert Williamson, Robert Winkler, and Scott Winkler.
Music: Linda Werven, Soloist and Diane Heskin, Organist.
