Raymond Westby

Raymond Westby, 85, of Langdon, ND passed away Saturday July 15, 2006 at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Raymond Ernest Westby was born January 12, 1921 to Einar and Rose (Mathiason) Westby in Kinloss Township, Walsh County, ND. He graduated from High School in Fairdale, ND. Raymond was united in marriage to Eva Krom on November 11, 1953 at Nekoma, ND. They lived at Fairdale until 1957 when they moved to their farm home in Kinloss Township, Walsh County. Upon retirement from farming in 1983, they moved to Langdon. He was a member of the Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church of Fairdale and later the United Lutheran Church of Langdon, ND. He enjoyed outside activities and sports and served on the Cenex Oil Board, the Farmers Union Elevator Board and was active in the Fairdale Booster Club. In his day he was an avid bowler, sharp pool shooter and enjoyed playing cards.

Raymond is survived by his wife Eva of Langdon, children; Mary (Marshall) Engbloom of Champlin, MN, Bruce Westby of Langdon, ND, Dennis Westby, Shirley (James) Gustafson of Adams, ND, Roger Westby of Fairdale, ND, and Lori Poole of Hazel Green, Alabama, sisters; Irene Westby of Moorhead, MN, Norma (Rev. Gordon) Berntson of Fargo, ND, and Joyce (Donald) Weiss of Sturgis, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
