November 24, 1921 — January 6, 2013

Pearl Stokke, 91, of Langdon, ND, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Pearl was born in rural Cavalier County on November 24, 1921 to Peter and Tina (Miller) Olson. She was raised and educated in rural Cavalier County. Pearl was united in marriage to Morris Stokke on May 27, 1944, at Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Upon his discharge, they first made their home in the Calvin and Hannah area and moved to Langdon in the late 1950’s. Pearl worked in the kitchen of the St. Mary’s Hospital in Langdon, at the A & W Drive Inn and for many owners at the Dairyland. She dedicated 38 years of her life to the children of the Langdon Elementary School where she worked in the hot lunch program from 1968 to 2006. Pearl was 83 when she retired.

Pearl was a very hard worker. She sewed for many in the area. Pearl loved cooking and baking and did a lot of it. She was especially known for her buns. Made with care, she was up throughout the night pounding the dough and only the most perfectly round buns would do. At the end of each meal she always offered something sweet. Her husband even enjoyed a nightly midnight meal with a dessert. Pearl was always busy and productive. She collected bears, amassing hundreds. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Larry Stokke of Langdon, daughter Patricia (James) Celius of Langdon, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and there is a great-grandchild on the way. Pearl is also survived by her sisters May Galloway of Bismarck, ND and Esther (Hal) Boyd of Maryland and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Morris, their son Kenneth, and her siblings: Ann Olson, Ella Kram, Peter Olson, John Olson, and Ted Olson.

SERVICES will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 7pm at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND with visitation starting at 5:00pm.
