Pauline B. Spenst

Pauline Spenst, 78, formerly of Langdon, ND, was ushered into the presence of her Lord on Monday, December 18, 2017, in Kingman, KS.

Pauline Blanche Ewert was born July 27, 1939, in Avon, SD, to Rev. Frank and Lillie (Richert) Ewert. During her childhood, she attended school in Avon, Omaha, NE, and graduated from Wolf Pointe High School in Wolf Pointe, MT. On August 4, 1957, Pauline married Arthur Spenst in Avon, SD. They made their home in Langdon, ND where they farmed and raised their family. Pauline enjoyed being in the kitchen, whether in her home or in the Dairyland that she and Art owned and operated. They also enjoyed serving customers at the curling club and courthouse cafes. She taught piano lessons to many students and will be remembered as an accomplished pianist. In 2015, Pauline and Art moved to Amarillo, TX and then settled in Wichita, KS in 2016.

Pauline loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, and especially fishing with Art. Christmas was Pauline’s favorite time of the year, and she loved sharing it with her family. She was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Langdon, ND. Most importantly, Pauline loved her Lord Jesus and found hope and encouragement in His Word every day.

Pauline is survived by Art, her devoted husband of 60 years, of Wichita, KS; children: Jim (Bonnie) Spenst of Euclid, MN; Paula (Henry) Nist of Moore, OK; Bonnie (Todd) Mask of Amarillo, TX; Terry (Stacey) Spenst of Wichita, KS; Nolan (Tracy) Spenst of Langdon; and Tyrone (Pauline) Spenst of Plainview, MN; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings: Ruth (Dick) Hulshof and David (Julia) Ewert; and sisters-in-law: Pam Ewert and Kathy Ewert. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Don and Darrel.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Langdon, ND, with visitation starting one hour prior to service time. A prayer service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017, at the church. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery, rural Langdon, ND.
