Paul J. Kalis, age 90 of Walhalla, ND died on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 7, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary service at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Wahalla, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
Paul J. Kalis was born September 25, 1919, at Leroy, ND to August and Euphrosine (Peron) Kalis. He grew up in the Leroy area. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, and later worked for Pembina County. In 1993, he moved from his home near Leroy into Walhalla.
He was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Leroy and the American Legion for over 50 years.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Elaine Kalis, Leroy, ND, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Thomas Krupich.
Casket Bearers: Jason Chaput, Francis Chaput, Tim Kalis, Terry Kalis, Francis Kalis, and Rodney Kalis.
Music: LaRae Horgan, Soloist and Bernadine Kopf, Organist.
