Patsy A. Chaput, 63, of Fargo, ND and formerly of Walhalla, ND passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Walhalla Lutheran Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 24th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND. Burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla.
Patsy Ann Tongen was born June 7, 1948, at Altona, Manitoba, Canada to Doyle and June (Anderson) Tongen. She grew up in the Walhalla area and graduated from Walhalla High School in 1966. Patsy then attended Jamestown College for one year before graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of North Dakota. She taught elementary education at the Grand Forks Air Force Base, Cooperstown and Mapleton, ND.
In life Patsy enjoyed reading, baking, crafting, and spending time at the lake in Minaki, Ontario. Her love of her children and grandchildren was evident, as she put her heart and effort in being a loving homemaker. Patsy's faith and relationship with God helped sustain her during her long battle with cancer.
On June 28, 1969, she married Stanley Chaput at Walhalla. He survives, as do her children: Jeffrey (Marne) Chaput, Edina, MN and Kimberly Chaput, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Hannah and Luke Chaput; and brothers: Don (Joan) Tongen, Walhalla and Steve (Jani) Tongen, Webster, SD.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
