Oscar David Beauchamp

Oscar Beauchamp, 93, of Langdon, ND, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018, at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon.

Oscar David was born October 24, 1924, in Olga, ND, to Ernest and Adeline (Dumas) Beauchamp. He grew up and attended school in the Olga area. Oscar married Aurore “Peggy” Beauchamp on June 26, 1945 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Olga. They lived and farmed in South Olga Township until 1991 when they moved to Langdon, ND. After his retirement from farming, Oscar helped Carlton Flaten on his farm and worked at the front desk of the Langdon Motor Inn for many years, which he really enjoyed. In September of 2013, Oscar moved to Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon where he currently resided.

Oscar loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and spent lots of time out at Shorty’s Cabin, which was named after him as his nickname was Shorty on the CB radio. He also enjoyed woodworking, especially making bird houses. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie #3454, Knights of Columbus, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a former member and trustee of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Olga.

Surviving Oscar are his children: Sherry (Marty) Pengilly of Langdon, ND, Paul (Erlys) of West Fargo, ND, Rene (Jackie) of Devils Lake, ND; daughter-in-law Audrey Beauchamp of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Cody (Jessica) Pengilly, Whitney (Daren) Bachman, Kade Pengilly, Chantelle (Tony) Seykora, Danielle (Chris) Moe, Becky (Joel) Grasl, Katie (Mike) Dietz; great-grandchildren: Kynlee, Jase, Jordan, Mason, Kameron, Olivia, Jacob, Kijia, Malia; brothers Leo (Lenore) Beauchamp of Walhalla, ND, and David (Artini) Beauchamp of Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law Ione Beauchamp of East Grand Forks, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Aurore, son Greg, brother Rene, and sister Edith (Cleo) Benoit.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary and a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon. Burial will be at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Olga, ND.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary and a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon. Burial will be at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Olga, ND.
