Orville Thorlakson, 79, of Cavalier, ND died Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 24, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 23rd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial in the Vidalin Cemetery, Hensel, ND.
Einar Orville Thorlakson was born January 5, 1931, in Akra Township of Pembina County to Einar and Helga (Johnson) Thorlakson. He grew up and attended school in the Akra area. Orville worked with his dad and brothers at Thorlakson Construction for over 50 years until his retirement. His handle on the business band radio was the "Friendly Digger". In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing.
On November 16, 1952, he married Norma J. Papenfuss at the Vidalin Lutheran Church, Hensel, ND. Norma passed away on December 28, 2006.
Survivors include his children: Debra (Larry) Wilson, Grand Forks; Douglas (Lisa) Thorlakson, Cavalier; Darlene (Brian) DeMars, Roseau, MN; Dale (Jackie) Thorlakson, Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren: Tyler and Travis Wilson, Brennan Thorlakson, Alissa and Brady DeMars, Parker and Ava Thorlakson; siblings, Octavia Burling, Verndale, WA; Chris Price, South Whitley, IN; Margaret Brooks, St. Paul, MN; and Elvin (Doreen) Thorlakson, Cavalier.
Also preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Sig Thorlakson.
