Orin Swenson

Orin Swenson, 83, of Langdon, ND, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012, at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Orin Lloyd Swenson was born August 5, 1929 near Mona, ND to George and Fannie (Kennedy) Swenson. He attended country school near Mona, ND. He married Doretta Schneider at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel, ND, on August 5, 1950. He worked for Lawrence Wilkes Trucking and Farming near Langdon, ND. He and Doretta farmed in the Wales and Munich area until 1958. At that time they purchased the City Services gas station in Langdon and operated that until 1979 when he went to work at Langdon Motors. He was also a hobby farmer and helped other farmers in the area. Orin entered the Maple Manor Care Center in September 2009. He was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Langdon Volunteer Firemen, Langdon Eagles Club, and the Cavalier County Wildlife Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, farming and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Doretta, sons: Jim (Deanna), Bob (Arlene), Jerry (Phyllis), Kevin (Sandi); daughter Patty (Floyd) Clark; special family friend Lanny Peterson; 17 grandchildren and step- grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; sister Donna (Don) Kerbey and numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law: Edna Swenson, Bonnie Swenson, Dorothy Swenson and Evelyn Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his son Terry; parents; sisters: Agnes Forest, Audrey Kram and Ila Kram; brothers: Allen, Quentin, Freeman, Marvin, Harlen and Armon; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.

VISITATION will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2012 beginning at 5pm with a 7pm Prayer Service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon.

SERVICES will be held on Friday, January 4, 2012, at 2:00pm at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon, ND.

INTERMENT Lebanon Cemetery, Langdon, ND.
