Odette R Wilhelmi

Odette R. Wilhelmi, 81, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Maple Manor Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

Odette was born October 15, 1926 in Marseille, France, the daughter of Basil and Tania D’ Angelo. She was united in marriage to Carl P. Wilhelmi on August 4, 1945 at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Marseille, France.

Odette came to the United States in 1946 at the age of 19 and was a self-taught English language learner. She and her husband, Carl settled in Nekoma where Carl worked for the Soo Line Railroad. They later moved to Tolley where Odette was an active member of St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church and where she prepared incredible meals for the students at Tolley School. Odette was an amazing cook. In 1968, Carl and Odette moved to Mohall where Odette was employed at the local nursing home and was a member of the Altar Society at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church. In 1991, Odette and her husband moved to Langdon to be closer to their son, Paul and his wife, Rebecca. In 1996, after 51 years of marriage, Carl passed away and Odette remained in Langdon.

Odette was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon.

A special thanks to the staff at Maple Manor Care Center for all their support over the past years.

She is survived by her sons; Patrick (Sylvia) of Kansas City, MO; Robert (Shelly) of Racine, WI; and Paul (Rebecca) of Langdon. She is further survived by two sisters; Teresa and Yolande’ of Marseille, France; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Odette was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and brothers Jenoit and Alfred.

Funeral SERVICES will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 2pm with Fr. William McDermott officiating.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 11, 2008 at the Brooks Funeral Home from 3 to 5pm with a Prayer Service at 7pm at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon.

Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery of Langdon, ND.
